Lahore CCPO claims ‘visible decrease’ in crimes during last six months

LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer Lahore Additional IG Ghulam Mahmood Dogar has said that Lahore police has introduced innovative operational strategies, effective mechanisms and institutional reforms to enhance the capacity building of its force so as to control crime and maintain peace in the city.
He said that the last six months of this year remained peaceful in context of overall law and order and security situation. Lahore police officials performed diligently, facing vulnerable situations in wake of COVID-19 as hundreds of police officers and officers were affected from this pandemic whereas five of them graced martyrdom while serving the citizens.

1,900 cases registered for kite flying

LAHORE: Around 1,900 cases were registered and 1,969 persons were arrested for violating the Kite Flying Act during the current year. As per Lahore police, raw materials of 37,500 kites, 3,042 kites and more than 7,000 kites were also recovered from the possession of the accused.

LAHORE:Despite tall claims by the police of taking action against kite-flying, two more citizens received injuries from string of stray kites in the Township and Ravi Road police limits here on Thursday.
The first victim was identified as Najeebullah. He was on his way near Mochi Pura Township when a stray kite twine entangled around his arms. As a result, he received injuries. He was shifted to Jinnah Hospital. SP Sadr visited him and assured him of proper treatment and action against kite-fliers. The second citizen was identified as Rashid. He was on his bike in the Ravi Road police limits where he got injuries.
