The transition team announced that Biden nominated Kathleen Hicks as deputy secretary of defense and Colin Kahl as undersecretary of defense for policy. Advertisement If confirmed, Hicks would be the first woman to serve as deputy secretary for the Pentagon. She would serve under former four-star Army Gen.
