The site where the mast will be located (Credit Kath Walker) A 5G mast is being built in Tranmere, despite its appearance being described as a monstrosity by a disgusted local resident. The mast, which will be 15 metres tall and will help improve 4G and 5G connectivity, is being built at the junction of Old Chester Road and Queen Street. Last year, Wirral Council rejected plans by telecommunications firm Three for a 20-metre tall mast at the same site due to concerns over its appearance.
