VADODARA: Five policemen were suspended by the Narmada superintendent of police (SP) on Thursday for thrashing a security guard at Jungle Safari in the Statue of Unity (SoU) premises at Kevadia.
The cops had accosted the guard Dilip Dungrabhil and beaten him at about 11.50 am on Wednesday when he was on duty. SoU officials officials said that the policemen wanted to enter the Jungle Safari without ticket. “When the guard stopped them and asked for entry tickets, they said they are policemen and won’t buy tickets. Soon, they began thrashing the guard and even took him away to the traffic police station,” an SoU spokesperson said.
