Cape Cod Healthcare allows hospital visitors

Cape Cod Healthcare updated its hospital visitation policy Monday to allow one visitor per day for non-COVID-19 patients.
Visitors to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis and Falmouth Hospital will be screened for symptoms of respiratory illness and fever and must wear masks at all times, Cape Cod Healthcare spokeswoman Christina Peaslee said in a statement.
Visiting hours are restricted to noon to 6 p.m. daily. No visitors under the age of 18 are allowed, and there will continue to be no visitors allowed for COVID-19 patients, Peaslee said.
Hospital visitor policies have changed over the course of the pandemic. Cape Cod Healthcare first restricted visitors in March in response to the coronavirus pandemic, but loosened restrictions in the following months.
Now that Cape Cod Healthcare has held its first COVID-19 vaccination clinics at Cape Cod Community College, people want to know how they can get on the list for first and second doses.
While the answers are still a bit unclear, Cape Cod officials said more answers should be coming as a regional consortium gets rolling.
“So much has changed in the last week,” said Madeline Noonan, director of community services for the town of Barnstable. “What does that mean to people? Everybody wants to know, ‘What do we do?’”
Cape Cod Healthcare, which has held several clinics at Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis, started dispensing vaccines Monday at the Cape Cod Community College gymnasium in West Barnstable.
