Ghaziabad: Convenience shops operating out of residential areas in violation of building bylaws in Indirapuram are proving to be one of the biggest reasons of traffic snarls in the area.
Residents have lodged multiple complaints with the administration. A crackdown follows and the shops are sealed, but most of them are back in business after a few months, they alleged. In 2018, the Federation of Apartment Owners’ Association had filed a petition in the Allahabad high court, seeking action against such illegal commercial units. They alleged in the petition that a number of private banks, beauty parlours, cafes, gyms, restaurants, departmental stores and clinics could be found operating out of the premises of residential townships in Ahimsa Khand, Nyay Khand, Gyan Khand and Shakti Khand areas.
Ghaziabad: The vice-chairperson of Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) on Monday convened a meeting of seven builders from Crossings Republik, the state’s first township under Integrated Township Scheme that came up in 2007, and asked them to submit a report detailing work done by them within a week.
These developers have failed to provide basic facilities even after the compulsory ten-year period. GDA VC Krishna Karunesh has now given them a week’s time to come up with a report detailing the work carried out by them. “State’s principal secretary (housing) will take a stock of projects under the integrated township policy and before that we have asked the erring builders to come up with a report within a week. We will recommend action against them based on that,” Karunesh said.
Ghaziabad: Expressing concern over the deplorable condition of a highrise complex in Vaishali, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has recently asked the resident’s body of the apartment complex to immediately vacate the building till the time retrofitting of the entire structure is not done.
In a letter to the resident welfare body of Alaknanda towers dated March 6, GDA chief engineer VN Singh stated that Rs 3.5 crore was required to get the repairs done and as the authority owns some of the flats there, it is ready to pay a proportion. The letter further stated that in case of any untoward incident, the RWA will be held entirely responsible.
Ghaziabad: To deal with the problem of vehicular pollution and traffic congestion, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) intends to encourage the use of e-cycle in Raj Nagar Extension and Indirapuram townships. The development authority plans to execute the project on PPP mode and has invited expression of interest for the same.
“We have invited expression of interest cum financial bids for design, procurement, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of electric bicycle schemes on PPP mode in Indirapuram and Raj Nagar Extension,” said a GDA official. He added that so far they have not received a favourable response. “But we are not giving up on the project as we feel that e-bicycle project is very important for Ghaziabad to deal with the problem of pollution and traffic jams in the district,” the official said.
