Hogs Narrowly Miss NCAA Championship Cut, Fall In Playoff To No 1 South Carolina

Mario Bravante May 12, 2021 LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 17 Arkansas Women’s Golf had its season ended in heartbreaking fashion on Wednesday afternoon, as the Hogs fell in a one-hole playoff to No. 1 South Carolina at the NCAA Louisville Regional. The Gamecocks got birdies from four of their five players, while Pauline Roussin-Bouchard, the SEC Player of the Year and No. 1 ranked golfer in the country, eagled the hole to end the Razorbacks’ 2020-21 season. Brooke Matthews matched Roussin-Bouchard’s eagle, and Julia Gregg birdied in the playoff, but Kajal Mistry, Cory Lopez and Ela Anacona all shot par on hole number nine, where the playoff was played.

Arkansas Tied For Eighth After Round One

Mario Bravante May 10, 2021 LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 17 Arkansas Women’s Golf is tied for eighth place following round one at the NCAA Louisville Regional, as the squad fired a 299 (+11) over the first 18 holes. The Hogs are tied with UCF and Tennessee, and trail Texas and Auburn for the coveted sixth spot, which would put them through to the NCAA Championship. Florida State currently leads the event at two-under, and is the only team under par. Seminole Amelia Williamson and UCLA’s Emilie Paltrinieri are co-leaders at four-under. “Obviously, we got off to a slow start today,” Head Coach Shauna Taylor said. “I saw great fight after we made the turn, though, and that has me excited for the next two days. Cory was clutch for us today and played some great golf. This thing is a marathon until Wednesday, and I wouldn’t want to do it with any other group of young women. They are poised and ready for the climb up the leaderboard.”

Matthews, Lopez, Mistry Earn SEC Honors

Mario Bravante May 7, 2021 FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Three Hogs were Southeastern Conference postseason award honorees, announced today by the conference office, as Brooke Matthews, Cory Lopez and Kajal Mistry were all recognized by the league’s coaches. Matthews earned a spot on the SEC’s First Team; Lopez was named to the league’s All-Freshman Team; and Mistry was named to the conference’s Community Service Team. Matthews’ recognition comes after a remarkable season for the redshirt junior, as she was one of just eight First Teamers named by the league’s coaches. The Rogers, Ark., product becomes the first First-Teamer for Head Coach Shauna Taylor since the trio of Maria Fassi, Dylan Kim and Kaylee Benton were named to the first team back in 2019. The honor was well deserved, as Matthews finished her redshirt junior season with four top-10 finishes, two runner-up finishes, and a historic win at the inaugural Blessings Collegia
