Mangaluru, Jan 7: Though gram panchayat elections are not normally held on party lines, the recent polls saw political parties fire all guns to ensure that the candidates they backed garnered maximum votes.
One of the issues that grabbed attention was the performance of SDPI, which won a good number seats, leading both BJP and Congress district units to hurl accusations at each other of having a secret alliance with SDPI.
