The Provincial Head of the Hawks in the Eastern Cape, Major General Mboiki Obed Ngwenya commended the Mthatha Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team for yet another success in uprooting the criminal elements within our society.
This follows the conviction and sentence imposed against Vuyokazi Veronica Kati (37) when she appeared in the Mthatha Regional Court on 26 April 2021. Kati was found guilty of theft of R2.3 Million and sentenced to 15 (fifteen) years direct imprisonment.
Kati was a Manager of Inkspot and Stationery Company in Mthatha over the period between February 2013 and July 2019. She was responsible for collecting cash from the cashiers in the store before the company closed, with the sole purpose of recording and depositing the money in the company bank account.
