Kidderminster Town names new mayor and leader of the council

Cllr Julliet Smith and Cllr David Ross, KIDDERMINSTER Town has elected its new mayor and leader of the council at last night s full council meeting. Councillor Juliet Smith has been named as Mayor of Kidderminster and councillor David Ross was elected as leader of Kidderminster Town Council. Councillor Ross, Worcestershire county councillor for St Barnabas, and town councillor for Franche and Habberley North is the first ever councillor to take leadership. Cllr David Ross has been elected as leader of Kidderminster Town Council. He said, “This is an exciting time to be leader of the council. We will be focusing on the development of the Town Hall; revitalising the venue as a community hub and focus for the town; and looking to protect local services as much as possible.”

South Lanarkshire venues won t close but may be subject to asset transfer

Updated South Lanarkshire Council leader John Ross The move comes after a leaked report revealed dozens of facilities operated by South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture (SLLC), could face an uncertain future. The report listed a total of 29 “red” venues – those at greatest risk of closure – and 21 “amber” venues whose future will depend on the results of the leisure and culture review and the sustainability of the facilities. Council leader John Ross, who heads the minority SNP administration, denied any venues including libraries, community halls, golf courses and leisure centres will close. However, did seem to suggest they may no longer be under SLLC’s control and could be transferred to the community to run.
