Rockhampton Regional Council has today marked the completion of the Touch of Paradise project at Cedric Archer Park in Gracemere, with the unveiling of.
Councillor Ellen Smith said she had complete faith in Rockhampton s civil operations team when it came to ensuring the quality of local road works. Speaking during the Fatality Free Friday launch on Gladstone Road, Ms Smith said it was up to drivers to drive to the road conditions. A lot of young people get their licences in town then they go driving on unsealed rural roads, she said. They don t know how to handle the gravel and they re driving too fast. Cr Smith said the council spent about $4 million each year upgrading local roads, and she was grateful for the duplication works between Gracemere and Yeppen.

Gracemere’s paradise to get even better
One of the region’s most beautiful spots is set for an upgrade, with work beginning today on $1.35m of improvements for a Touch of Paradise in Gracemere’s Cedric Archer Park.
Acting Mayor Neil Fisher said this work would elevate Touch of Paradise to a whole new level.
“Over the past couple of years we have transformed this little corner of Gracemere by reshaping the lagoon, installing new pathways, and building a new 43 metre pedestrian bridge.
“The works we are starting now will pull all of these improvements together by repairing old footpaths, installing new shade structures, replacing seats and benches, and planting thousands of new trees and shrubs which will enhance the existing canopy.

Rockhampton Regional Council Division 1 councillor Shane Latcham made the announcement on Friday morning, as his three young children, wife, parents and in-laws stood beside him in support. Councillor Shane Latcham with daughters Jaynee, Savannah and Jenna and wife Beck. Cr Latcham said he gave the nomination a lot of thought and asked community members for their thoughts and received an overwhelming response of people encouraging him to go for it. Voted in for the first time at the March election this year, Cr Latcham believes this will play to his advantage.
