A Tennessee man accused of murdering his missing 5-year-old son returned to court Thursday – even as the body of the boy who s been presumed dead by authorities remains missing three years later.  Joseph Daniels, now 30, told a 911 dispatcher on April 4, 2018, that his autistic and nonverbal son – Joseph Baby Joe Clyde – had escaped from their home in rural Dickson County, Tennessee, WKRN reported.  My son has escaped. We cannot find him, Daniels is heard saying on the call. He must ve unlocked the door. He got out. Law enforcement and volunteer search crews scoured the area, as then-Dickson County Sheriff Jeff Bledsoe described both a mental and physical toll on the community that the child hadn t been recovered. Dickson Co School Board moves closer to hiring firm for study

The Dickson County School Board is moving closer to hiring a firm to analyze the school system’s facilities, student population, and learning environments as part of a long-range plan.  Schools Director Dr. Danny Weeks told the board he spoke with the Lewis Group firm of Knoxville to “help analyze our facilities, to help make predictions on where we might need to build future facilities as well as guidance in terms of structuring school environments. The board has scheduled another discussion and possible vote on the firm at its monthly meeting in May.  The board at an early April special session asked for an independent review of the school system in order to decide the type of new facility that should be added, or if a new facility should be built at all. 

Dickson Co School Board: Seeks more data, long-range plan next

The Dickson County School Board is focused on getting neutral data about growth areas and facilities’ student populations in Dickson County before proceeding with long-range planning.  The board asked school administrators at a special planning session Thursday to move toward gathering more information before committing to a facility plan.  Schools Director Dr. Danny Weeks repeated that education leaders should have a plan ready if County Mayor Bob Rial and the county commission approve approximately $30 million in funding the mayor has said might be available in the next few years for school capital projects.  Weeks again asked the board to provide direction “in terms of administration, in terms of looking at facilities, looking at land, looking at properties.

Dickson County OKs $1,000 frontline bonus, rezone for graphics company Nashville Tennessean Dickson County employees who have worked on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic will receive a $1,000 bonus after the county commission approved the expense this week.  The $139,000 in funds used for the bonuses are from the State of Tennessee for local government’s COVID-19 expenditures.  Several county first responders were in the audience at the Jan. 19 regular monthly county commission meeting.  I appreciate y all being here tonight and I appreciate your service to the community,” said County Mayor Bob Rial following the vote.  The bonus would be for employees at the emergency management agency, ambulance service, highway department, and sheriff s Office, which also includes county jail staff.
