At its May 11 meeting, the Hays County Commissioners Court discussed changes to the 2016 Road Bond Program and approved upgrades for election voting equipment.
As part of the 2016 Road Bond Program, the court authorized a time extension on the Professional Services Agreement between Hays County and BGE, Inc. in order to make needed RM 12 safety improvements near the intersection of Mountain Crest and Skyline Drive.
The project was needed after safety issues occurred at the intersection of the roads. However, because they are State of Texas roads, Commissioner Lon Shell says the new designs will need to be built according to the state s standard before the project is approved.
Ages 12-15 are now eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccinations in Hays County. Children can only be administered the vaccination when accompanied by a parent or guardian.Â
A walk-in clinic at the Dunbar Recreation Center, 801 Martin Luther King Blvd. will be provided tonight in San Marcos between 5pm and 10pm. Parents or guardians are encouraged to bring their children to the clinic, the Pfizer vaccine will be available to adult residents as well.

The Hays County Commissioners Court adopted proclamations declaring April 24 through May 1 as National Infant Immunization Week at its April 20 meeting.
Hays County Medical Epidemiologist Eric Schneider discussed the importance of encouraging parents to vaccinate their children. He says it takes a community effort to make public health programs work effectively. The Hays County Local Health Department wants to use National Infant Immunization Week to encourage parents to vaccinate their children on time, and to be sure to complete all of the recommended series of doses,â Schneider says.
While on the topic of vaccinations, Schneider says the Hays County Local Health Department and Live Oak Health Partners will provide free COVID-19 vaccines from 8-11 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. on May 3-4. No appointment or insurance is necessary to receive a vaccine.
