Deputies honored for quick, safe response

Erath County Judge Alfonso Campos and the commissioners court in regular session this week took time to recognize the service and sacrifice of three deputies of the Erath County Sheriff’s Office. The deputies all give day in and out to the citizens of Erath County. Three specifically stepped out recently and are being recognized for their actions, reads a social media post from the Sheriff s Office.
Deputy Steven Flye, Deputy Skylar Chasteen and Deputy Cody Allen were assisting Judge Campos with an individual who became unruly. Due to the quick response from the three deputies, the individual was quickly and safely detained and transported without further incident. Neither the individual nor the deputies were injured.
Erath County judge temporarily lifts burn ban

Erath County Judge Alfonso Campos has temporarily lifted the burn ban that was issued for the county on Dec. 14.
The ban has been lifted until 9 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, according to a news release from Campos office.
The ban is temporarily lifted based on the determination that the fire danger and circumstances identified in the original burn ban no longer exist, the release states.
The Erath County fire marshal and other county officials will continue to monitor the situation daily, the release states.

Erath County sees increase of 31 cases of COVID-19 this week

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Erath County saw another increase this week.
As of Thursday, Dec. 17, the county had an increase of 31 cases, according to a report from the county emergency management office.
Of those cases, 10 are in Stephenville, two in Dublin and 19 in the county.
Erath County has seen 2,094 total cases with 345 active. Of those, 1,724 are listed as recovered, and 25 deaths have been attributed to COVID-19, the report states. That number reflects no additional deaths since the beginning of the week.
Of the total cases, 145 have been among those ages 0-12 years old; 311 cases among those 13-19 years old; and 540 cases among those 20-29 years old.
As COVID-19 cases increase, mobile testing available

As with most of the state and nation, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Erath County saw another increase.
As of Monday, Dec. 14, Erath County had an increase of 58 cases from last week, according to a report from the county emergency management office.
Of those cases, 25 are in Stephenville, nine in Dublin and 24 in the county.
The office also announced that COVID-19 community testing will be available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17, at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church, 950 Glen Rose Highway in Stephenville.
There is no cost for the test and anyone can be tested. Individuals do not have to have any symptoms to be tested, according to a news release.
