To reward employee hard work, commitment and risk exposure during the coronavirus pandemic, Johnson County Healthcare Center CEO Sean McCallister crafted a hazard payout plan for staff who worked between March 2020 to January 2021 and presented that plan to the board at their January 27 meeting. “We appreciate their individual and collective efforts during this unique and challenging public health emergency,” McCallister said. “We are extremely proud of the courage, poise, preparation, skill and teamwork demonstrated by our entire team.”

Johnson County Healthcare Center employees will be receiving a one-time COVID-19 hazard payout totaling nearly $1 million, according to a release from the facility. CEO Sean McCallister put together a plan for the payout in appreciation for staff who “weathered the pandemic with admirable poise and unwavering dedication.” The plan will give employees who worked from March of 2020 through January of 2021 the one-time payment for full-time employees,of $500 per month for the 10-month period, totaling $5,000; part-time employees will receive $250 per month or a total of $2,500; and per-diem employees will receive $100 per month for a total of $1,000. McCallister said, “We appreciate their individual and collective efforts during this unique and challenging public health emergency. We are extremely proud of the courage, poise, preparation, skill and teamwork demonstrated by our entire team.”

Johnson County Healthcare Center will continue to administer the Moderna vaccine according to CEO Sean McCallister… at least in the foreseeable future…  McCallister would be satisfied with either vaccine as both are believed to be about 95% effective in fighting the COVID-19. Last week, it was announced that approximately 5% of Johnson County residents have been vaccinated, so when will the vaccines begin to win the fight against the pandemic? McCallister believes it will take some time…

Hospital Board Approves Officers, Audit Report – Sheridan Media

Kyle Mercer, with Cloud Peak, gave an overview of their report to the hospital board. The board also voted for officers for the coming 2021 calendar year. Board President Mark Schueler and Secretary Kristi Kinghorn were both retained in those positions, while Tom Holt was voted in to the Treasurer’s position, taking the place of outgoing board member Bill Dooley.

For the fifth consecutive week, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has added more than 200 new entries to its list of outbreaks related to COVID-19, and an increasing number have tallied death tolls higher than since the early days of the pandemic. An extreme example is Windsor Healthcare, a skilled-nursing facility in Weld County. The CDPHE has confirmed sixty positive staff cases, 85 positive resident cases and seven resident deaths. The CDPHE considers an entity an outbreak after two or more COVID-19 cases among residents, staffers or other people connected to a specific location are confirmed within a fourteen-day period, or two or more cases of respiratory illness with an onset of symptoms within a fourteen-day period are paired with at least one additional COVID-19 diagnosis. The vast majority of businesses and facilities identified as outbreaks remain open while working with the department to monitor symptoms and prevent future infections.
