Located across from South Point High School, the 5,000-square-feet restaurant features a shaded double-lane drive-thru, an outdoor patio, and enough indoor seating for 102 people. There are more than 50 parking spaces around the restaurant, and the drive-thru can accommodate 28 cars.
Cars trickled into the Chick-fil-A parking lot and drive-thru Tuesday morning. The drive-thru began to take on more substantial traffic closer to noon.
The fast-food restaurant opened at 6 a.m. Tuesday. Chick-fil-A will serve food from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day except Sunday. It will probably do good for the high school students, especially after they get out of school, said Belmont Mayor Charlie Martin. He expects the business to do well based on its proximity South Point High and the Harris Teeter, where he also shops for groceries.
