AFTER totting up nearly 30 years of service, the longest serving member of staff at the Coventry Building Society in Dursley is retiring. Wendy Childs joined the branch, which was The Stroud & Swindon Building Society at the time, back in September 1991. Since then she has supported members with all manner of enquires and requests related to their savings and mortgages. A familiar and reassuring presence for generations of customers in the Dursley branch, manager Gavin Hall said that Wendy is so popular at the branch that customers ask where she is when she’s not around. “On a daily basis our members will ask where Wendy is and occasionally look a little lost when she is not there in her middle till position,” he said.

Airport runway plans: Here s what happened so far tonight
SOUTHAMPTON Airport bosses have put forward their support for plans to expand the airport s runway as the debate over the proposals resumed. After almost 11 hours of deliberation on Thursday, the full council meeting at Eastleigh Borough Council resumed today at 6pm. As reported, councillors will have to decide whether to approve or reject plans to expand the runway at Southampton Airport by 164m. On Thursday councillors listened to comments from those in favour of the expansion and from those against it. As the meeting resumed today, Southampton Airport bosses had the opportunity to speak and present the plans.

The Mackenzie Tour added its first new members from its 2021 Qualifying Tournaments, with Colombia’s Camilo Aguado capturing medalist honors at The Club at Weston Hills on Friday by three shots. Aguado, a PGA TOUR Latinoamerica veteran, will have dual membership this year as he joins the Mackenzie Tour for the first time. Others emerging from Weston to earn status for the first half of the 2021 season were the trio of Gavin Hall, Jeremy Gandon and Jason Thresher, who all tied for second. Mexico’s Raul Pereda and amateur Andrew Walker survived a three-man playoff for the final two positions. The Tour’s next Qualifying Tournament is set for the Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, beginning Tuesday (March 2-5). Here is a short look at the six qualifiers.
