Jacksonville High School juniors Catherine Ott and Gavin Cox both were named to the Illinois All-State Chorus, while Beardstown High School junior Xitlali Montoya-Hernandez was accepted to the All-State Band as a tenor saxophonist. This is the second year Cox has been named to the All-State Chorus, and it’s still just as much an honor to be chosen, he said. ”It is something to be really proud of,” Cox said. “It is something I’ve worked really hard for and it shows that I can improve myself and go even higher.”
