Activist Natasha Narwal’s father Mahavir Narwal on Sunday died due to COVID-19 related complications.
Natasha has been lodged in Tihar Jail after being arrested in May 2020 for allegedly being part of a premeditated conspiracy in the northeast Delhi riots in February that year. She has been booked under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

Condolences poured in for the CPI(M) leader and his family after he announced the death of his older son, who would have turned 35 in June. Ashish Yechury, a journalist, died at Gurgaon s Medanta Hospital after a two-week battle with the infection.

New Delhi: The Election Commission has let off BJP candidate from West Bengal’s Nandigram Suvendu Adhikari with a light rap for his “mini-Pakistan” remark made at a public meeting last month.
Bengal is in the middle of eight-phase elections, which have seen campaigns unparalleled in attempts at communal polarisation.
In an order issued on Monday night, the poll panel warned Adhikari and said it “advises him to desist from using such statement while making public utterances during the period when Model Code of Conduct is in force”.

New Delhi: Several prominent women rights advocates from all walks of life in India have released a statement urging the Myanmar military to release journalist and activist Thin Thin Aung and other illegally detained pro-democracy protesters.
In an appeal, both to the military which assumed power since the coup and to the international community including transnational business stakeholders, the activists have urged that the brutal violence perpetrated on protesters in Myanmar end and people’s rights be restored.
