PTF planning to organise professional league Sports January 17, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) contemplated the possibilities of initiating the first-ever professional league involving some foreign players once the COVID-19 dust settles down. The Annual General Meeting (AGM), which was held under the chairmanship of PTF President Salim Saifullah Khan under open skies at the PTF Complex on Saturday, discussed the option and possibilities of initiating the first-ever league. The idea was floated by seasoned sports administrator Mohammad Taufeeq (Director Sports POF Wah). “To make tennis really professional and income-generating for the youth, there is a requirement to initiate tennis league where foreigners could also play and enhance the element of competition for talented youth. I would propose that tennis league should be initiated once the dust of virus settles down,” Taufeeq said.

Davis Cup tie Pakistan to host Japan in March Sports December 20, 2020 ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will face Japan in the Davis Cup World Group I tie on March 5-6 at the outdoor grass courts of the Pakistan Sports Complex here. The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has given the go-ahead to the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) to organise the tie. The winners will earn the honour to play in the elite 12-team group. “We have received a communique from the ITF, allowing us to host Japan. We were given the options to have the tie in March or September. We opted for March as we feel these dates are more suited to our players, especially our international star Aisamul Haq,” PTF’s Executive Vice President Khawar Hyat said.
