Pella Christian hosted its annual track and field co-ed invitational Tuesday on Eagle Lane.
Pella’s girls were meet champions and the boys were just edged by ADM in the final standings (202-198), while the host Eagles placed 3rd behind the Tigers and Dutch in the boys field and the P.C. girls placed 7th. The PCM boys were 4th and the girls placed 5th. Pleasantville finished 6th among the boys and 8th in the girls standings.
Officer Involved Shooting with MHP in Lake County
Montana Highway Patrol Sergeant Jay Nelson described the incident.
“On Tuesday, March 2
nd at approximately 10:05 p.m., a Montana Highway trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop in Lake County,” said Nelson. “Subsequently, the suspect fled the traffic stop and the MHP trooper attempted to stop the vehicle with a pursuit intervention technique or otherwise known as a pit maneuver.”
Nelson said the technique was unsuccessful and the incident turned more violent.
“This maneuver was unsuccessful,” he said. “The suspect then attempted to ram the MHP troopers vehicle and another vehicle, and shots were fired at the suspect by the MHP trooper. The suspect sustained minor injuries and was apprehended and treated for these non life threatening injuries.”

The Pella Christian girls and boys basketball teams are hitting the home stretch of the regular season, entering the final week before the playoffs begin on Eagle Lane.
The Eagles will host Oskaloosa for a Little Hawkeye Conference doubleheader, hoping to replicate their efforts from a January 12th meetup where they found the sweep at Oskaloosa High School. Pella Christian’s girls are coming off of a valiant effort against Van Meter Saturday, down three opening-day starters and hanging tough with the Bulldogs in a 42-32 loss, while the Eagles boys pulled off an 11-point comeback to win in overtime.
