A CAMPAIGN to ensure every child in the Bradford district is warm this winter is now taking donations in the form of warm clothing. Bradford’s community groups, faith groups, public sector organisations and the business community have joined forces on the No Child Cold campaign to help families struggling with the extra heating costs caused by children being at home during whilst schools are closed. It was launched in January and helps to support families where household income has dropped due to a loss of hours at work or furlough, as well as families in receipt of certain benefits, or where children qualify for free school meals and fuel costs have increased because of remote learning.
McCarthy at Brentford
Tuesday, 15th Jan 2013 21:24
Town boss Mick McCarthy has been spotted at this evening’s Brentford-Southend FA Cup third round replay at Griffin Park, which the home side won 2-1.
The Blues manager may have made the trip to catch Bees’ highly-rated attacking midfielder Harry Forrester in action.
The 22-year-old has recently been linked with a £300,000 return to his former club Aston Villa, while Reading, Southampton and Celtic are also claimed to be interested.
Milton Keynes-born Forrester, who has scored eight goals in 23 starts and nine sub appearances this season, started his career as a youth player with Watford but was sold to Villa for a fee which ultimately could have reached £1 million when only 16.
Latics just had that extra edge as they deservedly defeated Bradford City 3-1 on Saturday.
Dylan Bahamboula, Carl Piergianni and Davis Keillor-Dunn provided the firepower as Harry Kewell’s team notched a fourth win in five League Two games.
The result also cost Kewell’s opposite number Stuart McCall his job as the Bantams fired their boss following a fifth straight reverse.
“It’s another good, hard-earned victory for us,” said Kewell.
“Bradford had their moments, and credit to them for pushing us all the way, but overall I just thought we had that bit more out there today.
“I was really pleased with the performance, the only disappointing aspect was the late goal we conceded towards the end.
