The Windgate Foundation has awarded a two-year, $469,420 grant to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff to support teacher preparation programs for students through its Educator Preparation Program.
The program aims to increase the number of highly effective educators by supporting evidence-based practices that prepare, develop and strengthen the skills of UAPB students through its competency-based curriculum. This opportunity will serve to address many of the preparation and training issues we too often wrestle with in preparing the next generation of teachers, Vice-Chancellor of Institutional Advancement George Cotton Sr. said in a news release. This funding can also serve as an institutional springboard in helping to carve out UAPB s space as a go-to institution in making a difference in teacher preparation.

The Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) is excited to announce the launch of TEACH Connecticut s new The Future Depends on Teachers PSA campaign in advance of Teacher Appreciation Week. The campaign celebrates the profession s integral role in the nation s recovery and its lasting legacy on shaping future generations, and aims to inspire talented, diverse candidates to become educators.
TEACH Connecticut, in partnership with CSDE, is the first statewide support initiative of its kind in the nation and serves as a one-stop shop for free, valuable tools and resources to help anyone who is considering becoming a teacher. There is a wide range of evidence to support the benefits of a diverse teacher workforce, including its positive impact on strengthening schools and resulting in better outcomes for students of all races/ethnicities, such as reduced dropout rates, improved college admissions, and achievement gains.
