JAMMU, Jan 24: Different organizations here today celebrated National Girl Child Day and organized different programmes in this regard.
On National Girl Child Day, NSS Unit of GDC Bishnah organized an online lecture on the topic ‘Understanding Gender and Gender Equality’. The resource person was Dr Rajni Bala, Assistant Professor in Sociology, GDC RS Pura who extensively delved on the process of gendering from the birth of a child.
She talked on the three levels of gender construction- individual, interactional and institutional, gender roles inculcation, reinforcement of roles, the constructed nature of gender inequality and how it can be removed at the time of socialization of child itself.
