Marilyn “Lyn” Patricia Fyfe Weber, 85, of Indiana, PA, peacefully passed away on May 16, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones. She was a long-time resident of Indiana, PA, having lived in Raleigh, NC for some years before returning to Indiana.
Lyn was a devout Presbyterian of strong faith. She grew up in Maywood, New Jersey, where she graduated from Hackensack High School in 1953 and Fairleigh Dickinson University with an Associate’s Degree in 1956. As a youth, one of her proudest accomplishments was winning a brand new typewriter in a local typing contest. She could accurately type more than 100 words per minute. She used that typewriter to type her husband Charlie’s doctoral dissertation and later the homework reports of her children. It was Lyn’s typing talents that helped her land a job as a legal secretary for attorney Theodore W. Trautwein in Hakensack, NJ, before moving to Indiana.

They may have graduated from Fredonia more than five decades ago, but members of the Class of 1959 have proven to be forward-thinkers. They have raised, and continue to raise, significant dollars to support sustainability projects that benefit the College Lodge.
It was at their 50-year reunion that class members launched a visionary campaign to generate ongoing funding for green energy initiatives at the lodge.
“We wanted to do something for the college, and we felt that green energy was the thing to do because it was costing the lodge money for electricity,” said Senior Class President Ed Buseck. Class members cherished the lodge, which was an ideal setting for camping, nature walks and skiing.

Located near Fredonia, the forest has served as a popular community gathering place for Chautauqua County residents, and once formally purchased, the grounds will be under permanent protection.
The Land Conservancy and the Friends of the College Lodge Forest, over the past handful of years, has held a fundraiser to conserve the property, which was originally purchased in 1939 by SUNY Fredonia students in order to emphasize outdoor health.
