ANN ARBOR – The University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance’s annual Collage Concert will be going virtual this year.
Before the pandemic, the 43-year-old tradition would showcase the talents of students from across the school’s disciplines at a packed Hill Auditorium.

The director of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro School of Music has died. Dennis AsKew, 56, who spent more than half of his life leaving his stamp on the school, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday.
He had a remarkable tenure and a lasting impact on the Spartan community.
AsKew’s talents were many. After joining the low brass faculty in 1992, he soon became known as an accomplished tuba performer, an empathetic and caring teacher, an enthusiastic conductor of Pep Band at athletic events, and eventually an invaluable administrator. He also represented the School of Music at national conferences across the U.S.

The Ballard High School music program has been busy recording and mixing a virtual concert that showcases over a dozen ensembles in a wide variety of styles and that promises to offer a little something for everyone. The free performance airs online Friday, January 22 at 7 p.m.
“It will be a nonstop evening featuring an incredible range of performances from our music ensembles,“ says Courtney Rowley, director of choirs.
