Been fired from more jobs than anyone I know, this is the first time on Twitter.
Haven’t heard yet if it’s because I’ve been a Zionist, an anti-semite, or a transphobe.
Nearly two months later, Ekman says he’s never been told what got him abruptly removed from the unpaid position at the Prince George university.
But he maintains that it shouldn’t have been accusations of racism.
“What made the statement that the minister made so difficult was that she called me a racist and did so in writing, without quantifying that in any regard,” Ekman said in a recent interview. “If you throw this stuff around, especially in cases where no reasonable person would see that it fits, it really loses its power.”
If John Rustad has his way, School District 57 could see a “trades school” created in the near future.
Rustad, a first-term trustee on the school board, passed a motion at Tuesday’s board meeting to establish a steering committee to look into the idea.
The reason he did so was because the Kindergarten to Grade 12 education system is, he believes, “geared almost 100 per cent toward an academic career, and only about 25 per cent of our students actually take this path. So more needs to be done to provide opportunities for other students.”
The current education system values academics above all else, he says. What course offerings there are in trades and technical training are not geared toward the needs of the workplace.

With wildfires blazing across the province and an evacuation alert issued for 100 Mile House, Prince George Mayor Lyn Hall says the Northern Capital is ready to take in evacuees if necessary.
According to Hall, around 60 evacuees from the Yekooche Lake area fled to PG in the last 10-12 hours.
“We’ve been prepared since 2017 when we had 10,000 evacuees here and our emergency operations centre has mobilized we’re at level one right now and prepared to move at a moment’s notice. We’re ready to go. We’re ready to welcome evacuees if need be,” he said.
â ¤Chamber AGM and dinner
The Prince George Chamber of Commerce will host its annual general meeting March 16 at the Coast Inn of the North. The meeting runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with dinner with speaker Tom Steadman beginning immediately after.
â ¤Wal-Mart donates
The Prince George Wal-Mart store made a donation of $1,700 Monday to the Prince George RCMP Drug Awareness Service/UNBC Northern Timberwolves Role Model Program.
The money will help bring a select group of amateur athletes to elementary schools classrooms to speak to students about goals, peer pressure, and making good choices.
Staff at the local store raised $859 through an in-store fundraising event, and that amount was matched by Wal-Mart Canada’s home office in Mississauga.
