CALGARY Cochrane RCMP recovered the remains of a deceased 36-year-old man from the Bow River Thursday. Officers responded to a call around 2 p.m. Thursday reporting that a body was spotted in the Bow River near River Avenue in Cochrane. RCMP officers, with help from fire crews who deployed boats, immediately undertook a search of the area. After a brief search, officers located a deceased person in the water. The individual has been identified as a 36-year-old Cochrane man. An investigation into how the person died and ended up in the water is under way. CALGARY Police say a man wanted for second-degree murder in connection with the stabbing of man who stepped in to stop a fight has likely left the city. A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for Antoine Joel Gros Venture Boy, 26, the suspect in a fatal stabbing in downtown Calgary on June 30. That night, around 7 p.m., 62-year-old Paul March was walking by James Short Park at 115 Fourth Ave. S.W. when he heard a woman asking someone to stop hitting her. March confronted the man, who threatened him with a knife. Turning to run, March tripped on the bumper of a car at Fifth Avenue and Centre Street, and fell.
CALGARY Calgary police are hoping someone will come forward with information on the whereabouts of an accused killer before the deadline for a $100,000 reward passes on July 20. The Calgary Police Service partnered with the Bolo Program and Calgary Crime Stoppers in January to offer the $100,000 reward for help tracking down Kier Bryan Granado, 24, who is wanted for first-degree murder in a 2015 slaying. The reward was made available for six months. Police were called to reports of a shooting in the 100 block of Del Ray Road N.E. about 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 13, 2015. Officers arrived to find Hussein Merhi, 26, in medical distress and he died at the scene.
CALGARY Two people were injured in a three vehicle collision in southern Alberta Monday. The incident took place around 12:15 p.m. on Highway 3, around three kilometres west of Fort Macleod. The collision involved a four door sedan, an SUV and a pickup truck pulling a tractor trailer. A man driving the sedan suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital by STARS Air Ambulance. A second man, who was driving the SUV, was escorted to hospital by EMS with minor injuries. A man and woman who were in the pickup truck weren t injured. Traffic in the area was disrupted for several hours, but the scene was cleared about 9 p.m.
