Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) has appointed a 12-member Multilateral Healthcare Insurance Committee (MHIC), due to be officially established from 27 April 2021, to provide a platform for healthcare providers, payers, consumer representatives and the government to jointly address issues related to health insurance.
Comprising representatives from the Academy of Medicine Singapore (AMS), Consumer Association of Singapore (CASE), Fee Benchmarks Advisory Committee (FBAC), Life Insurance Association (LIA), Singapore Medical Association (SMA) and private hospitals, the MHIC will provide a platform for doctors, insurer, hospitals and the MOH to work together with the goal of enhancing Singapore’s health insurance system, promoting quality, safety, and affordability for Singaporeans.

An anaesthesiologist, who is a director of a clinic at the two Mount Elizabeth hospitals, claimed trial yesterday to four charges of molesting a woman.
Yeo Sow Nam, 52, is accused of committing the offences on the 12th storey of the hospital in Orchard Road on the evening of Oct 9, 2017. He is represented by lawyers Eugene Thuraisingam, Chooi Jing Yen and Johannes Hadi.
Court documents said Yeo allegedly performed acts such as gripping the 32-year-old woman s breasts with his hands and squeezing her waist with his hand. He is also accused of pulling her towards him and kissing her on the head.
