UNDERSTANDING SHAKESPEARE: Join us at the Troy Public Library on Thursdays, February 18th – March 18th from 6:30 – 7:30PM for our Understanding Shakespeare workshop. This will be a five-session program on how to understand Shakespeare s plays. We will start our discussion with Act 1 of Shakespeare’s tragedy “Hamlet.” Then in the following four weeks we will discuss the play one act at a time. This program will allow the participants to put the play in a variety of contexts, such as its relationship to his other works and to the modern existential world. In honor of Black History Month, Waterville Creates, together with the Colby College Museum of Art, Kennebec Montessori School, Waterville Public Schools and the Family Violence Project, has created a special Art Kit for All to celebrate the artwork and legacy of Maine artist, Ashley Bryan. The February art kit is inspired by Bryan’s award-winning book, “Beautiful Blackbird,” a copy of which will be included in each art kit, according to a news release Shannon Haines, president and CEO of Waterville Creates.

LENTEN FISH FRY DINNERS: The Latham-Colonie Knights of Columbus located at 328 Troy-Schenectady Road, Latham, 12110, will be hosting Lenten Fish Fry Dinners every Friday from February 19th 2021 through and including Good Friday April 2nd 2021. The “Take Out” dinner includes; Fish Fry or Clam Roll served with French Fries or Onion Rings and Coleslaw. All Dinners are $10 each. CARLSBAD (SAN DIEGO) – An ambitious and local Girl Scout troop is going for the Bronze Award, the third-highest award a Girl Scout can earn and the highest in this troop’s age group (10-11).
The girls are hosting a Virtual Drive to compile items and money into Welcome Bags from the Ronald McDonald House.
Already, they’ve put together Birthday Bags designated for foster children at Straight From the Heart and Art Kits for foster girls at Casa De Amparo in Vista.
The troop has even created an excellent website to help people find and support their work.
Troop 1942 started together in kindergarten and attend various schools around San Diego County or are homeschooled.
