Poor rainfall hits cultivation in Jajpur, farmers fear crop loss Post News Network
Jajpur: Farmers in this district are staring at huge crop losses due to the lack of rain in the agricultural season, a report said. It said that the district has received 18 per cent less rainfall this season than what is required for agricultural activities.
In spite of the setback, farmers were hopeful that there will be sufficient rainfall in August. They had hoped it will compensate their earlier water loss. However, much to their despair, rainfall has not been sufficient in July also.
Till July 23, the amount of rainfall received is 67 per cent less than the district usually gets during the month. So the farmers are in distress as they stare at a bleak future.

NEW DELHI: US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who took charge on Wednesday, has indicated that President Joe Biden will continue with the policies of the Trump administration vis a vis China, including issues related to the maritime disputes over Beijing s assertiveness in the South China Sea, the Indo-Pacific and the strategic approach to step up defence ties with the Quad member countries, comprising India, the US, Japan and Australia. China considers the Quad as an anti-Beijing alliance.
Blinken made this clear in a series of telephone calls to his counterparts in the Phillipines, Thailand and Australia overnight Thursday, the US state department said in a statement.
