The council plans to appoint candidates to the Human Relations Commission, the Public Art Commission, the Stormwater Management Oversight Committee, and the Utilities Advisory Commission. The council then plans to hold a joint hearing with the Planning and Transportation Commission to discuss the process for creating the next Housing Element. UTA space physicist leads data management for NASA mission

Frederick Wilder, assistant professor of physics, and Hector Salinas, doctoral student in physics
A space physicist at The University of Texas at Arlington has received a NASA grant to support his role in a flagship mission that evaluates interactions between the magnetic fields of the sun and earth.
Frederick Wilder, assistant professor of physics, is one of five supervising scientists for the Scientist in the Loop (SITL) program under NASA’s Magnetospheric Multiscale Mission (MMS). A portion of the nearly $166,000 NASA funding will allow Wilder to hire Hector Salinas, a first-year doctoral student, to join the mission.

On April 24, 2021, US President Joseph Biden declared that the massacre of 1.5 million Turkish Armenians in 1915 constituted genocide. As to whether genocide is the word Americans can consent to use about Native Americans who suffered death, torture, displacement, apartheid and disease at the hands, mainly, of European settlers in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries is a lot less clear, although some state governors have gone for it. As for slavery, not until July 2008 did the US House of Representatives apologize for American slavery of blacks and the subsequent discriminatory laws and practices that have continued to marginalize and oppress a population that today constitutes over 47 million or 14% of the US population. 9 States have officially apologized for their involvement in the enslavement of Africans.

Earth Science Laboratories (ESL) has welcomed a new member to their management team. Matt Quist joined ESL in March as the General Manager of the Agricultural Division. Quist now leads a team using ESL’s unique platform chemistry to develop products for agricultural water treatment, crop nutrition and disease control.
Quist has over 17 years of experience in the agriculture industry. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Agronomy and Crop Science and a master’s in Plant Sciences from California State Polytechnic University-Pomona along with certifications as a Professional Agronomist, Crop Advisor, and Agricultural Pest Control Advisor. He has previously held positions as a research horticulturist, agronomist, and most recently as the National Director of Agronomic Solutions for Wilbur-Ellis.
