San Andreas, CA – A Calaveras Sheriff’s Deputy and a good Samaritan are being hailed as heroes after risking their lives to save a woman by running into a burning house.
On Monday morning just before nine o’clock, some neighbors could hear an alarm sounding near Lewis Street in San Andreas but could not pinpoint its exact location and called 911. Dispatch, with the help of several callers, was able to narrow it down to the 300 block of Roberts Avenue.

Copperopolis, CA – A Copperopolis man denied the meth found in his vehicle was his, but deputies did not buy it after they found an incriminating document.
A vehicle parked at a vista point on Highway 4 near Shirley Road in Copperopolis around 12:30 a.m. last Wednesday piqued the curiosity of a passing Calaveras Sheriff’s Deputy, who decide to investigate. A record check revealed the driver, 45-year-old Sammy Phillip High was on probation from San Joaquin County and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest regarding a domestic violence incident.

San Andreas, CA – A discarded ankle monitor left at a San Andreas home led to the discovery of stolen items, a suspected meth lab, guns, ammunition, and sadly a minor child who was removed from the residence.
Their arrest comes after an extensive investigation by the Calaveras Sheriff’s Office and the probation department. The investigation began on Dec. 2nd when a business in Angels Camp was burglarized. At the scene, deputies discovered that the thieves had taken nearly 1,500 pounds of copper wire and about $3,000 worth of tools.
