News from LGWM Let’s Get Wellington Moving is asking people to have their say on proposed safer speed limits on State Highway 1 and a new walking and cycling crossing on Cobham Drive. The projects support Let’s Get Wellington Moving’s objectives of improving safety for everyone using our city’s roads, streets and paths, and reducing reliance on private vehicles. Formal consultation on proposed new speed limits, of 50km/h on Ruahine Street and 60km/h on Cobham Drive and Calabar Road, starts on Wednesday. Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency Director of Regional Relationships Emma Speight says safer speed limits are a proven tool that will help save lives.

Youths storm PHDC office in Cross River, protest lack of electricity in Bakassi, Akpabuyo LGs

Daily Post Nigeria Published Thousands of youths from Akpabuyo and Bakassi local government areas of Cross River State have invaded the office of the Port Harcourt Distribution Company (PHDC) along Calabar Road in Calabar Municipal Local Government Area of the State, to protest the non-supply of electricity. The protest which took place in the early hours of Wednesday lasted over four hours as protesters disrupted free traffic flow, official functions at PHDC and other economic, commercial and social activities in the area. One of the protesters known as Offiong Okon lamented the lack of electricity supply to their areas. “People that came to protest are youths from Bakassi and Akpabuyo, for over two years, we have no electricity. PHDC disconnected us since the new management came on board and we cannot continue this way” he said.
