In recent years the mid-point of the Duluth Homegrown Music Festival was dubbed “Westside Wednesday,” with music lovers fanning out to venues from Lincoln Park to West Duluth. This year, Soup Town night came early as Earth Rider Brewery in Superior kicked off their in-person series of shows dubbed “Starfire Unofficial Birthday Bash” that will continue through Saturday of Homegrown Week.

The evening’s festivities began at 5pm, with Black River Revue playing under Earthrider’s giant tent. Fans trickled onto the grounds throughout the evening, with a reasonably-sized crowd gathered by the time of Charlie Parr’s closing set. Whether inside the tent or outside on the grounds near one of the fires needed on a chilly May evening, fans still had space to spread out as needed. The venue for the Brainerd High School’s spring musical “Oklahoma!” has changed.
The musical was scheduled to be performed in the new performing arts center, but has been changed to Tornstrom Auditorium in Brainerd, a decision made by the school district.
Performance dates are 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, May 6-8 and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets for the musical are $9 for adults and $6 for students.
Crossing Arts presents 100 Days Of Watercolor
The Crossing Arts Gallery presents its newest exhibition “100 Days Of Watercolor,” with artwork by Lisa Pomerleau.
The exhibition is set to open Friday, May 7, and will be on display through May 22 at the art gallery in downtown Brainerd.

Area families are invited to join Lalo and his friends at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 13, as they handle unpredictable food erupting out of Lalo’s Lunchbox in a free, virtual Kitchigami Regional Library System program.
In the interactive livestream presentation, kids get to vote on what happens in the show by casting their votes through Facebook chat. This family-friendly show has sketch comedy and songs that teach about healthy foods and the importance of being kind.
