NOMPU SIZIBA: The science of wine making (oenology) is studied at the highest academic level, and just last year South African-based scientist and academic Professor Benoit Diol was bestowed a ceremonial knighthood â the Knight in the Order of Agricultural Merit by the French government â in honour of his contribution to the field of winemaking and agriculture. He’s an associate professor in the Department of Viticulture and Oenology and the South African Grape and Wine Research Institute at Stellenbosch University. He joins me now on the line.
