Pro-Life Utah is debuting its free ultrasound clinic Wednesday, right in front of the downtown Salt Lake Planned Parenthood location. Now Planned Parenthood officials are voicing their concerns.
The group says it’s doing this to help women and end abortions and they re opening the clinic right in front of Planned Parenthood hoping to send a message. Pro-Life Utah said their mobile clinic has the appropriate permitting and is staffed by licensed professionals.
According to the group, the clinic will offer free pregnancy testing, counseling, and ultrasounds to women considering an abortion. They said the ultrasound gives women the chance to see the baby’s heartbeat.
Utah Law Requires Fathers to Pay Half of Mothers’ Pregnancy Costs
A new Utah law will require fathers to pay for half of a woman’s pregnancy costs.
The legislation, H.B. 113, signed into law by Utah Gov. Spencer Cox (R) in March, amends the Utah Child Support Act to include the medical costs associated with pregnancy.
The law will take effect May 5.
The text states the law “requires a biological father to pay 50% of a mother’s: insurance premiums while she is pregnant; and pregnancy-related medical costs, including the hospital birth of the child, that are not paid by another person.”
