Three climbers have gone missing attempting to summit the world's second-highest mountain, K2, their expedition manager and the Alpine Club of Pakistan said Saturday.

SKARDU: A foreign mountaineer has been presumed killed in an avalanche as Pakistani and foreign climbers aim for the K2 summit today.
K2 is the second highest peak in the globe and one of the most dangerous.
Sources say the climber disappeared into an avalanche after the team s rope broke when they were on their way back from camp three.
More details of the accident were not yet available.

Nepalese mountaineer Nirmal Purja, who was part of the team to successfully complete a winter attempt on the summit of K2 for the first time, was humbled by the warm welcome the team received upon arrival in Skardu and Islamabad.
Taking to Twitter, Purja said the climbers were overjoyed with emotions and our hearts are full of gratitude and thanked Pakistani family for making us feel at home .

Islamabad, Jan 20 (efe-epa).- A team of porters on Wednesday tried to recover the body of American mountaineer Alex Goldfarb at Pastore Peak (6,209 meters or 20371 feet), where he was found dead on Monday.
This marked the second death this season in the mountains of Pakistan following the death of Sergi Mingote of Spain.
“Today high altitude porters went up to take his body back,” Alpine Club Of Pakistan’s spokesperson Karrar Haidri told EFE.
He added that they did not know yet if the operation was successful or not.
