Greater MN law enforcement going home after Chauvin trial

Extra law enforcement concentrated in the Twin Cities is starting to return to Greater Minnesota after Tuesday’s peaceful end to the Derek Chauvin trial. State Patrol Chief, Colonel Matt Langer says they’re demobilizing in a strategic way:
“Members are ready to go home, they’re eager to go home, some of them are home, and many have hours to go before they get home.”
But Colonel Langer stresses law enforcement resources will still be available in the Twin Cities:

Law enforcement thanks demonstrators for peaceful first day of Chauvin trial

Top law enforcement officials are thanking citizens for keeping protests peaceful on the opening day of the trial of ex-officer Derek Chauvin. State Patrol chief, Colonel Matt Langer:
“Demonstrating a way that Minnesota can do this the right way. It didn’t require any law enforcement response at all, which is the best kind of protest from my point of view.”
Officials stress that their plans are flexible and adaptable, based on any information or situations that may arise.
Minnesota Republicans Object to Proposed State Security Funding for Derek Chauvin s Trial

Lawmakers in Minnesota have clashed over funding the security around the trial of Derek Chauvin, who stands accused of killing George Floyd by kneeling on his neck last May.
Minnesota s top law enforcement officials said on Tuesday that they are worried about arranging policing in the city during the March trial after Republicans opposed a proposal to have the state help pay for it, according to several media outlets.
Chauvin is one of four former Minneapolis police officers charged in the death of Floyd and is the first of the defendants scheduled for trial.
