With the schools reopening in Haryana, 57 cases have emerged from a single hostel in a school in the Karnal district of the state.
Three tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday, while the rest 54 tested positive on Tuesday.
Following the mass Covid-19 infection, classes and other academic activities have been suspended. The school buildings and hostels have been declared as a containment zone, Karnal Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav said. Total 57 students of a school hostel have tested positive for Covid-19 in Karnal, Haryana. Our medical teams have reached the spot and the hostel is being marked as a containment zone, Yogesh Kumar Sharma, Civil Surgeon, Karnal told ANI.

KARNAL: Haryana Police on Sunday (January 10) cracked down on farmers protesting against central farm laws at a toll plaza near Karnal ahead of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar s visit to home constituency. Police used water cannons and lobbed tear gas shells at farmers who attempted to march towards Kaimla. The venue at Karnal, where Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar was to hold a panchayat was reportedly vandalised by farmers who broke through the police cordon. Farmers stormed the barricades set up at Kaimla to oppose the Kisan Mahapanchayat event by the Chief Minister, which was aimed at highlighting the benefits of the three central farm laws.
