He will be replaced Aug. 1 by Adam Pettis, superintendent of the Guernsey Local School District.
Dodgion, 72, has served as superintendent at the county vocational school for 19 years. Dodgion served as a teacher in the Rock Hill school system before taking a job at the vocational school. He has worked at Collins for 42 years.
âI feel very proud of what weâve been able to accomplish,â Dodgion said Thursday. âI feel weâve come a long way. We have 587 students signed up for next school year. Thatâs the most ever. The adult education program also is doing well.â
He was an official with the vocational school when it took over a building on Ohio 243 at Coal Grove. The building now serves as the schoolâs nursing program, Dodgion said.

Pittis resigns as E. Guernsey Superintendent, Rosser named as successor
OLD WASHINGTON, Ohio–Conducting their April meeting on line, the East Guernsey Local School District, Board of Education met in their regular April meeting Wednesday night.
After a brief executive session the board reluctantly accepted the resignation of Superintendent Adam Pittis, effective July 31, 2012, then unanimously approved appointing Chase Rosser to that position. Rosser was awarded a three administrative contract effective August 1, 2021 through July 31, 2024.
Pittis has been with the district for the past six years, and told the board he was sad to go, but looked forward to future challenges. He thanked the board, public, students, parents and staff of the district for their efforts over the years for the success that the district has enjoyed.
