Bengaluru– The Golden Chariot luxury train to tourist destinations and heritage sites across south India resumed from Bengaluru after a four year break, an official said on Sunday.
“The 6-coach luxury train chugged off from Yesvantpur station in the city with South Western Railway General Manager A.K. Singh flagging it off,” Bengaluru Divisional Manager A.K. Verma told IANS.
In its first-round trip, christened ‘the Pride of Karnataka’, the train will cover Bandipur national park, Mysuru, Halebidu, Chikkamagaluru as well as Goa in 6 days and 7 nights.
The week-long journey also takes passengers to Unesco world heritage sites of Badami caves, Pattadakal temples and Hampi palace ruins in the state’s northwest region before returning to Bengaluru.

KSRTC) on Women’s Day handed over a Sthree Toilet a mobile toilet built from an old bus to the Karnataka State
Tourism Development Corporation (
KSTDC).
“The Sthree Toilet was built at the KSRTC Workshop, Kengeri recently. The bus was converted into a women’s toilet. The toilet will have a bathroom with a shower for the benefit of women. KSTDC chairperson Shruthi Krishna has also made some suggestions to improve the Sthree Toilet,’’ said KSRTC

New Delhi, Mar 13: IRCTC is all set to resume its Golden Chariot , a luxury train started by the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) in 2008, from Sunday. We wish to inform you that IRCTC will operate trips through Golden Chariot from March 14 2O2l, the state-run company said.
It can be seen that the operations, management and marketing of the train were later taken over by IRCTC through an agreement with KSTDC. Also, the train provides travellers a chance to experience the historical, architectural and scenic beauty of south India while enjoying the comfort of a state of the art amenities and international service standards.
