Bengaluru, April 16 : In the wake of an exponential spurt in Covid cases that has resulted in enforcement of night curfew, the Bruhat Bengaluru Hoteliers Association (BBHA) demanded the Karnataka government provide them exemption on property tax, electricity bills, and excise license fees to help them survive during the second year of the pandemic.
Starting January 7, 2021, shops and commercial establishments in Karnataka employing 10 or more persons will be allowed to operate 24x7 for a 3-year period.
Man dies of snakebite in Udupi

Udupi, Jan 15: A man has lost his life after being bitten by a venomous snake at Hengavalli, a remote village in Kundapur taluk of Udupi district.
The victim has been identified as Mohammad Aalm, a local resident.
It is learnt that the incident took place when he was trying to catch a snake near one of his friend’s house in his village.
He was immediately taken to a hospital in Halady and after preliminary treatment he was shifted to KMC hospital in Manipal.
However, he breathed his last without responding to any treatment. A case has been registered at jurisdictional Shankaranarayana police station.
Bengaluru, Jan 2: After forcing a dry run since April 2020 in the name of lockdown, the Karnataka Government has allowed business establishments in the State to function 24 hours.
The notification directs shop owners to hire additional staff if they plan to stay open for business round the clock
BENGALURU: Starting Sunday, shops and establishments in Karnataka can function 24x7 on all days for a period of three years. The state government on Saturday notified that all shops, registered under the Karnataka Shops and Establishments Act, 1962, with ten or more employees can remain open round-the-clock.
With the notification, the state government is making an attempt to create more jobs, generate some additional revenue and lend a helping hand to the retail industry that has been reeling under the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
