Newsweek has obtained, host Greta Van Susteren asked the California congressman who he felt was responsible for the riot, noting that while he d pointed toward former President Donald Trump at first, he later appeared to backtrack. McCarthy said he didn t change that position. Later in his response, he said Trump should have responded sooner, and released a video in which he called for calm earlier. I thought the president had some responsibility when it came to the response. If you listen to what president said at the rally, he said, demonstrate peacefully. A Black Police Officer is being celebrated for steering the violent mob away from the Senate Chamber during Wednesday s riot in Washington D.C.
Eugene Goodman is being hailed as a hero for his efforts that may have prevented the rioters from gaining access to the chamber which was not yet secured.
A clip of the encounter has gone viral since Wednesday s events but Goodman was since identified by CNN s Kristin Wilson on Sunday.
