A number of kookaburras and a dim-witted guinea fowl are slowly sending some locals mad in a tropical Australian town. Virtually every morning around 6am, Malanda resident Carol Holt is woken by a series of laughing kookaburras and a confused guinea fowl who appears to have lost its bearings. Malanda is located in the Atherton Tabelands, in Tropical North Queensland, 85km from Cairns. Ms Holt said the birds sit outside her bedroom window before chirping in unison, often in high numbers.
