Verlin Kennebeck, age 88, of Carroll, died Sunday, March 14, 2021 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Holy Spirit Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll. The celebrant will be Fr. Kevin Richter. Music will be by Jane Heithoff and Duane Handlos. Casket Bearers will be Matt Redling, Tony Redling, Lanette Reyes, John Kennebeck, Joe Kennebeck, Amanda Redling, Haley Redling, Jessica Kennebeck, and Juan Reyes. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll with military honors conducted by the Carroll American Legion.
Visitation without greeting the family will be held from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. Those in attendance are required to wear a face covering and abide by social distancing practices.
The 2021 Iowa legislative session convened Monday morning and the Carroll Chamber of Commerce is announcing they will be bringing back the local Legislative Forums one time each month from January to April. Each begins at 10 a.m. with the first one this weekend, on Saturday, Jan. 16. These, however, will be closed to in-person attendance by the general public and will be broadcast digitally from the Carroll City Council Chambers and livestreamed via the city’s YouTube channel, a link to which is included below.
