Study confirms racial differences in response to prostate cancer treatment

E-Mail DURHAM, N.C. - A study designed to enroll an equal number of Black and white men with advanced prostate cancer confirms key findings that have been evident in retrospective analyses and suggest potential new avenues for treating Black patients who disproportionately die of the disease. Researchers at Duke Cancer Institute enrolled 50 Black and 50 white men with advanced prostate cancer to test whether there were outcome differences on treatment with the hormone therapy abiraterone acetate plus the steroid prednisone. In retrospective data reviews, the Duke researchers had previously found racial differences in PSA responses among advanced prostate cancer patients.

(KFVS) - Many churches in the Heartland have large crowds during Christmas time, but due to the pandemic, they’re adjusting their services to keep people safe. “This year’s Christmas service is different in some ways but exactly the same in others,” Pastor John Dehne said. This is the first time St. Andrew Lutheran Church is streaming it online, according to Dehne. “A significant number of not only our people but people from all over the world worshipped with us online, so while the sanctuary was less full there were still as many or more people worshipping with us collectively,” Dehne said.
