HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Environmental Protection Agency has sued the bankrupt Oahu Sugar Co. and it’s mainland owners over pesticide dumping.
In a federal court lawsuit filed last week, the EPA alleged that Oahu Sugar ― which shut down in 1995 and filed for bankruptcy in 2005 ― operated a pesticide mixing plant on the Waipio penninsula for decades that spilled toxic chemicals into the land.
“I see an ecological nightmare going unchecked,” said environmental activist Carroll Cox, who has documented the contamination since 2005.

HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Dozens of homes in Hauula were significantly damaged in Tuesday’s severe flooding.
And some residents say not all of the flooding was due to Mother Nature.
Residents along a stretch of Kamehameha Highway between Kahikole and Ahinalu places say that illegal stockpiles of asphalt and construction material elevated the land beneath a construction baseyard across the street, causing stormwater to flow over the highway onto their properties.

I refer to the headline, Democracy has prevailed and the picture of Joe Biden being sworn in which are featured in the Austin American-Statesman of Jan. 21.
I agree with this, and might add that democracy has prevailed ever since our founding. It s nothing new. Another profound headline might read, The sun rose this morning.
Few would disagree with this headline and most would agree that this has gone on for a long time. But, as I am a steady reader of the Austin American-Statesman I suspect that, by their headline, the Statesman is ballyhooing the inauguration of President Biden.
