HOLLAND The Ottawa Area Intermediate School District went with a familiar face to fill a board vacancy. During its meeting Wednesday, Feb. 16, the board appointed former 12-year board member Richard Cooley for a four-month term.
Cooley will fill the seat of Ron Eding, who served as board treasurer for 23 years and died Jan. 28 at age 76. Cooley s appointment runs until the board s regularly scheduled June 7 election.
A partial, four-year term will be available in June, which represents the remainder of the six-year term Eding was elected to in June 2019.
As is the case with most ISDs in the state, OAISD board members are elected by representatives of local district school boards, not during a general election.
