Kitchens set a personal best time in the 200m as she sprinted to a 24.97 third-place performance. She earned three personal best marks in three separate events throughout the Invite in the 200m, 60m (7.67) and long jump (5.74m/18’10”)
CLEMSON, S.C. – Georgia Tech track & field returned to The Palmetto State for the second consecutive weekend competing at the first day of the 2021 Clemson Invitational in Clemson, S.C., on Friday afternoon. Sophomore sprinter Lydia Troupe was the Jackets lone first-place performer at day one of the Invite taking gold in the 400m dash with a time of 57.20 to set a personal record in that event. Last weekend at the Orange & Purple Elite Meet Troupe placed first in the 800m, making Friday’s race her second first-place performance of the 2021 indoor season. UF track and field coach Mike Holloway led the men’s team to the indoor national championship and the women’s team to a top-10 ranking.
The Florida track and field team finalized its spring schedule, according to a Friday tweet.
The team will begin its indoor season Jan. 23 at Carolina Challenge in Columbia, South Carolina. This will be the first time the Gators compete since March because their 2020 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
After a week s rest, the team will head back to the Palmetto State for the South Carolina Invitational, scheduled to take place in Columbia Feb. 5-6.
